Tenuta di Valgiano: Excellence in Biodynamics
Perched in the Tuscan hills of Lucca, Tenuta di Valgiano has championed biodynamic farming since 2002 and is committed to ecological balance. Their wines capture the essence of their unique landscape, being true to their origin, vibrant and pure.

Terroir & DOC Regulations
Spanning 55 hectares, with 16 hectares under vine, Tenuta di Valgiano enjoys a privileged location at 230-270 meters above sea level, on the hills, squashed between the Apennine mountain range and the coast. The soils—a fascinating mix of marl, clay, limestone, sand, and silica-rich rocks—imbue the wines with exceptional depth, minerality, and structure.
DOC Rules: The DOC permits bianco wines dominated by Trebbiano, complemented by varieties like Grechetto and Vermentino, and rosso wines led by Sangiovese with partners like Canaiolo and Merlot. Varietal wines like Vermentino and Sangiovese must contain at least 85% of the named grape, ensuring authenticity and quality.
The Wines
Tenuta di Valgiano crafts two outstanding red wines, both showcasing the unique terroir of the Lucchesi hills:
Tenuta di Valgiano – The estate’s flagship wine, an exquisite blend of Sangiovese (60%), Syrah (20%), and Merlot (20%). This is a wine of depth and sophistication, offering layered aromas of ripe dark berries, Mediterranean herbs, and exotic spices, in a robe of perfectly crafted velvety tannins, with remarkable ageing potential.
Palistorti di Valgiano – A more approachable yet equally refined expression, blending Sangiovese, Syrah, and Merlot. It delivers bright fruit, lively acidity, and silky tannins, making it an irresistible choice for both casual sipping and fine dining.
In addition to its reds, the winery produces Palistorti Bianco, an entertaining, Mediterranean white wine crafted from Trebbiano, Vermentino, and Malvasia. With its fresh citrus notes and saline minerality, it’s a perfect match for seafood or light appetizers.
