Kicking Off the Wine Club Dinner Season with Mura Mura Winery at Lucciola

September 6, 2024

Yesterday, we embarked on an exciting new season of Wine Club Dinners at Lucciola, beginning with an extraordinary experience featuring Mura Mura Winery. Mura Mura—"living calmly, wisely, and cherishing what is valuable"—perfectly encapsulates the values we strive to share at these exclusive dinners.

The winery is owned by Federico Grom and Guido Martinetti, two entrepreneurs who have made waves in the food and beverage industry.

Childhood friends and founders of the renowned Gelaterie GROM, they purchased land in Costigliole d'Asti in 2008, giving birth to Mura Mura farm. Initially focused on fruit production for their iconic gelato, they expanded their vineyard holdings, growing from 8 to 30 hectares of breathtaking land over the years. Today, their estate includes 10 hectares of Barbera and Grignolino vines and additional vineyards in the prestigious Barbaresco and Barolo DOCG regions.

Mura Mura isn't just a vineyard—it's a magical place where passion for the land, the arts, and knowledge come together. It's a meeting point for exceptional people, fertile with creativity and respect for nature. The estate has evolved into a harmonious blend of orchards and vineyards, where wines like Rigore (Nebbiolo) and Fantasia (Barbera, Grignolino, and Nebbiolo) flourish under the meticulous care of Guido Martinetti, Vittorio Sandrone (Agronomic Director), and Gianpiero Gerbi (Enological Consultant).

Construction on Mura Mura Winery began in 2017, culminating in a grand opening during the 2019 harvest. Their dedication to precision and craft was evident in every sip of wine we tasted during the dinner.

Wine Line-Up & Exquisite Pairings

Executive Chef Michele Casadei Massari and Sous Chef Dario Sanchez curated a stunning six-course menu to complement Mura Mura's exquisite wines.

Federico Grom and Mura Mura Team guided the tasting, talking about the winery, the history, the journey, and the wines.

Here's a glimpse of the unforgettable lineup

Seared Scallops with Lemon-Thyme Butter, Cauliflower Purée, and a Tartare of Raw Beef Filet

paired with Bianca Vintage 2021

Aromas of acacia flowers, yellow plum, melon, and vanilla. The depth and fullness of this white rival the finest wines of northern Rhône.

The creamy texture of the scallops complemented Bianca's richness, while the tartare added a meaty elegance echoing the wine's structure.

Plankton, Seaweed, and Caviar Mantecato Risotto with a Disc of Raw Mazzara Shrimp

paired with Beatrice Vintage 2021

Notes of candied lemon, acacia honey, and vanilla. This Timorasso-based wine featured a beautiful balance of structure and taste length.

The oceanic flavors and luxurious caviar harmonized perfectly with Beatrice's depth and candied lemon notes.

Beef Cheeks Braised with Porcini Mushrooms and Truffle Polenta

paired with Romeo Vintage 2019

A harmonious blend of Piedmontese vines with fruit, spice, and silky tannins.

The richness of the beef cheeks and earthy porcini balanced beautifully with Romeo's elegant tannins and fruit-spice character.

Seabass Milanese with Saffron Fondue and Braised Baby Carrots

paired with Miolera Vintage 2020

A seductive and immediate Barbera that showcases elegance and complexity.

The crispy Seabass and saffron's richness accentuated Miolera's voluptuous qualities, while the carrots added a sweet depth.

Petroniana Cutlet with Hazelnut, Blue Cheese Hints, and Fruit Mostarda

A complex and finely textured wine from the Faset Cru in Barbaresco.

The tender cutlet, paired with blue cheese and fruit mostarda, perfectly matched Barbaresco Faset's aromatic finesse and tannic structure.

Tortelloni with Fresh White Truffle

paired with Barbaresco Starderi Vintage 2019

A balanced wine from the Starderi cru, with silky tannins and earthy depth.

The richness of the white truffle tortellone paired seamlessly with the wine's balance and amplified its depth.

Latte in Piedi with Fabbri Amarena Cherries

paired with Ofelia Vintage 2020

A sweet and ample Moscato with honey, orange blossom, and apricot notes.

The dessert's creamy texture and tart cherries were a sublime match for Ofelia's honeyed and fruity finish.

Led by Alexandra Lascu, our ever-charismatic maitre d', and her skilled front of the house team, the evening was an ode to fine wine, culinary art, and impeccable hospitality.
